Top Tips for Stroller Running Moms

Stroller Running
I love my morning runs with my toddler and pup in my Bob jogger stroller. The weather is so dreamy right now too! ☀️😍 Now that my older 2 are in school, it's so nice to have the mornings a little more free. Which means more stroller runs and time with my youngest and dog outside. We hit the park often after which is what my little guy looks forward to most after our runs. Some of my mommy tips and tricks for running with your kids (and dogs) are:
  1. Make it fun! This is my 3rd time around being a jogger stroller running mom and so I've tried a few things over the years 😉 We start out with snacks and drinks in the stroller and I play Disney songs for the kid(s) and me. We sing and talk and have fun! This usually lasts us half or most of he run depending on the length of it. My secret weapon is the kids tablets so I will pull those out towards the end and let them play a learning game on it to get through! They love it!
  2. Have a back up plan. Some stroller runs don't go as planned. Kids are cranky, bad weather, diaper changes etc... But go with it! Be ok with cutting the run short, letting your pace fall a little or finishing later or on the treadmill if necessary.
  3. Don't go too long with kids. Mine won't last over 90 mins so I won't go longer than that with them. Save your long runs for another day.
  4. Bring water for you and kids and the dog. Take those water breaks! I bring a dish and extra bottle for my pup!
  5. Have a reward/destination. Ours is usually the park or meeting friends for lunch after etc... This makes it good for everyone when finished! And celebrate when you do! 🎉

Running with kids (and pets) can be tricky but it's also great bonding time and so rewarding! I have trained for many races with my kids in tow for many miles and I always feel happy to know they have been a part of the journey! So get out there and get active!
